European Jumping Championship 2005

For the first time in the historyof sport, an International European Championship event was held inside a non-profit facility. Indeed the Community hosted the event from the 2ist to the 24th of Jury, 2005 after 43years that it had been missing from Italian soil, the last edition (1962) at Rome's Piazza di Siena.

Twenty - one nations were represented including: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria,The Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Greece, Great Britain; Germany, Italy, Ireland, Israel, Norway, Holland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and Hungary. Sixty-nineteams were fighting it out for the individuai prize.

The Championship had the patronage of the UNODC - United Natìons Office on Drugs and Crime, which tied the event to its world wide prevention and information campaign entitled "Valueyourself and make healthy choices".
Additìonal support carne from RUNIC (United Nations Regional Information Center for Western Europe) and IYSPE 2005 (The International Year of Sport and Physical Education) also initiatives sponsored by the UN. Furthercollaboration wasgiven by ECAD (European Cities Against Drugs), an association that collects anti-drug commitments from 22 different European Capita Is.

Over 1,500 journalists from newspapers.weeklies, monthly magazines and information agencies from ali over Europe were accredited at San Patrignano 2005. Among the most important global editing groups were: The Times, L'Equipe, Le Figaro, Daily Telegraph, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Suddeutsche Zeitung, Tages-Anzeiger, Indipendent, Observer, Tagblatt, Basier Zeitung, DerBund.
Nine television stations provided broadcasts including: BBC (Gbr), NOS (Hol), SVT (Swe) TSI/TSR/DRS (Swiss), ZDR (Ger), VRT (Bel), Sport 1 (Hun). Live radio broadcasts from NOS (Hol) and RTE (Ire).
