Acqua Uliveto Grand Prix, win for Hassmann and Lolita H

German victory in the Grand Prix Acqua Uliveto – 13th Challenge Vincenzo Muccioli, tank to the spectacular performance of Toni Hassmann riding Lolita H. In front of 5000 people on the grandstands, Hassman prevailed over the other eight riders in the jump off. He was, unfortunately, the first to enter into the ring for the final round, but thanks to a fast clean round (33”49’) he kept his lead through to the end of the Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge.

“It’s one of the most important victories I have had with Lolita”, explained Hassmann, “I couldn’t ask for more. The class was perfect, she was really great. She was recently injured, but I never doubted she would come back in grand style. I would like to dedicate this victory to my coach, who always believed in me”.

Second place went to prudent rider Beat Mandli. Right from the moment he entered into the arena, there were very few clean rounds. So this experienced horseman took the cautious route on Louis for a well deserved second place (40”09’). Norway’s Geir Gulliksen placed third on L’Espoir with two clean rounds and a jump off time of 42”27’
.
Richard Spooner was more daring in the jump off. The protagonist of the San Gaulle CSIO Grand Prix and the Nations’Cup in Rome this year rode Cristallo to the maximum, knocking down a brick in the cedar wall. He finished fourth with four faults and 33”62’.

Italian rider Luca Marziani, best of the Italians, finished ninth. Riding Cascartho O.H Marziani jumped a clean round but incurred a time fault.

The show’s best rider, Gianni Govoni, placed a Rolex on his wrist, a prize well earned, after winning three classes and finishing second in another.
