One of the ways in which the importance of an event is determined is by the calibre of the guests it attracts. This is why the presence of Sven Holmberg, vice president of the International Equestrian Federation, at San Patrignano's 14th CSI5* Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge is seen as a sign of the esteem in which the show is held in the equestrian world.

Sven HolmbergThe vice president comes from Sweden and is 65 years of age, a respected judge and candidate to be the next FEI President, along with the current President, HRH Haya, wife of Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Holland's Henk Rottinghuis. One of them will be the next President during the General Assembly of the FEI, to be held next November in Taipei.

It is not Holmberg's first visir to San Patrignano, but mach time he is touched by the stories of the young men and women following the ricoveri program, and enjoys passing time with them. He became so involver that he eden asce one of the young men, Pietro, to sit with him in the jury box to watch Saturday night's classe. Pietro was honored, "I met him at lunch. First we spoke about San Patrignano, and when I told him I worked in the woodworking shop, his face lit up.

He told me that his father and grandfather were both carpenters, and that he had done it for some time as well. That is why he asked me to come with him to see the show that night from the jury box. He was telling me about the house he had remodeled himself and that he would send me photos when he got back home. I think he must have a real passion for carpentry. It was great to know him and to follow the show with him. We talked a lot and it was very nice. I did not think he would be that friendly!".
