The groom ‘born’ in San Patrignano
History repeats itself. As it happened for all great horses born in San Patrignano’s stables and then gained a spot in the world, as Avenir, Quel type d’elle, Sri Lanka e Cassandra. Also Nadir, run by the young rider Valentina Interlenghi, competing at CSI 5* Challenge Vincenzo Muccioli, was followed by a team of grooms formed in the Community.
Diego Lamberti, thanks to the programme in the hills of Rimini, found himself and learnt a new profession.
“Before coming here, I had no idea of horses”, he told us. “Then, I joined the stables workshop and after the first period in which I was very suspicious regarding these animals, I started getting passionate about them”.
And then, he got the chance to become Nadir’s official groom: “They needed somebody to take care of this horse. I was the more experienced here, and I was lucky to get the assignment. Now I am coming to the competition with Nadir and I am also following two young horses under the age of four”.
New and great personal satisfactions: “Looking at him running it is a unique experience. Just Valentina and myself could understand how much work is behind each obstacle. It is difficult to tell you what I fell when I see him jumping. I have tachycardia”.
Probably, it cannot be otherwise, considering the relationship I built up with Nadir: “It is marvellous to see that he recognises me every time I get closed. We totally understand each other, I have long chats with him”.
Would you work as professional groom once you leave SanPa? “It could be. Actually I will go back to my studies in Engineering to keep more chances open. However, here I got to know a new world, horseracing. And I deeply felt in love with it”.
