Mapei Prize: Hassmann and Baron best among the young horses
A German victory in the consecutive phase class open to young horses which opened the second day of competition in the CSI5* at San Patrignanno. It was Toni Hassmann on Baron Pkz, the last rider to enter the ring, to claim first prize with a double clean in 33”39’.
“I am truly happy”, explained Hassmann after his victory, “ I didn’t think I could do so well. But together with Baron, by the famed Baloubet de Rouet, I was able to take the turns tight and win. San Patrignano is truly a super show, really perfect in everything, especially the great footing in the grass arena is wonderful”.
Second place also went to a German rider, Florian Meyer Zu Hartum, who was first in the arena with Fighting Fit. She managed to keep her first place finish from the beginning with a double clean and 34”46’, right up until her team ate took the victory as the last rider.
Third place went to Dutch rider Marc Houtzager onVoulez Vous, a repeat of yesterday’s performance, who went for two clean rounds and 34”70’.
The highest ranked Italian was fourth place Natale Chiaudani on Centofiori dei Dioscuri, with a time of 35”26’ and no faults.
