San Patrignano Riding Club: the circle’s completed

Once again, horses are the key players in a new project and a new change in the community founded in 1978 by Vincenzo Muccioli.

circolo ippicoAlthough founded just a year ago, the new San Patrignano Riding Club is already full of life. More than satisfied, FISE instructress and club manager Anna Escalar says, “We have met with considerable success - so much so that we already have about sixty members between owners and learners on the three different rising courses, pony game, beginners and advanced, aged between 5 and 25.

This is the umpteenth demonstration of how the community is opening up to the outside world, putting its facilities and experience at the service of the local population: “There are few club members from San Patrignano - most of them come from Rimini, Riccione and San Marino. It is great that the doors of the stables are open not only to individual members, but also to all those who are curious to see the events the club organizes. One example was the demonstration of horseball last Sunday and another will be the final of the Provincial Tournament this coming Sunday, when the roofed riding school will host about a hundred participants from other clubs in our area, who will be joined by our members.”

There again, the club is the natural continuation of a story that began with the actual foundation of the community, when Vincenzo Muccioli realized that horses could have a therapeutic function for the rehabilitation of drug addicts. From there to deciding to open a real stud farm was definitely a short step and the stable specialized in show-jumping horses: a way for the youngsters to learn a profession and for the community to make itself known further afield. In fact, victories arrived for the San Patrignano Jumping Team at the Olympic Games, the World Championships and the most prestigious contests at world level and, at the same time, from 1997 riding contests began to be held at the community.
Then in 2005 the show-jumping Championship, confirming the skill of San Patrignano’s stables and the ability of the community to organize such a prestigious event. The riding club now just completes the circle, opening the stables to the outside world even when no important events are being held, such as the Csi 5* Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge.
