San Patrignano, a WeFree contest

Jumping beyond drugs. This is definitely an image, but this figure will once again takes concrete form during the 14th CSI 5* Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge, when the world’s best lady and gentlemen riders open the event, facing the WeFree contest, the first of nine competitions scheduled over the three days.

wefreeOnce again this year, the project for drug prevention, launched two years ago due by the San Patrignano community, will be the key component of the contest, by means of both the timed competition reserved for seven year-old horses with 135/140 cm obstacles, and by means of an obstacle that will also be used in the other contests

Obstacles that will have the message “It depends on us” on the jump pillars, the slogan that will accompany the new campaign starting on 9th October 2010 with the WeFree Day, the day on which 2,000 students from all over Italy will “invade” the community to discover various social realities from different countries, interact with some of their idols from the world of entertainment, music and sport and confirm with those of the same age as them that it is possible to live free from any conditioning and without drugs.

In fact, since 2002, San Patrignano has directly involved 700 schools from all over Italy, meeting no less than 200,000 youngsters by means of its shows to make people more aware of the drug problem. In fact, the project’s strong point is in its two theatrical shows ‘Ragazzi per Male’ and ‘Fughe da Fermiwefree(in which the community’s youngsters tell the stories of their own first-hand experiences. In the last year alone, the show has been staged in 49 cities, meeting almost 30,000 students Another 6,000 students visited San Patrignano during the school year, taking part in the prevention project by means of meetings/debates with the boys and girls of the community and multimedia facilities, such as the Web site, blog, forum and Facebook.

The Web site www.wefree.it now has 2,250 constantly updated pages divided into blog, forum, news columns, photo galleries and video content. Last year’s figures speak for themselves: 450/500 visitors per day with an average of seven minutes navigation each. Since September 2009, WeFree is also on Facebook and in a few months has chalked up 3,790 friends, almost reaching the maximum limit of 5,000: for this reason, a fan page was opened a few months ago, which already has 2,278 members.
